Item # NNP02 The structure portrayed as the stable in this Nativity scene is just as stables are still built in Armenia today. It is a very old building technique and Armenia is the oldest Christian country in the world. If you click through to the second page with several more views, you will note that the headgear and dress on the figures are typical of the Armenian culture. The expressions on the people in the scene and even on the animals portray the awe they feel at this important event. The scene is created from Pearwood which
is a very rare wood found only in one area of Georgia which is close
to Armenia. The carving is made even more challenging by the fact that
this is an extremely hard wood. The scene measures $15,000 shipping, handling, and insurance included. Please contact us at

This scene was commissioned by a private party and is not for sale. However, we present here as an example of the type of private commissions that are available from the artist Nairi Safaryan. Note the family all with their heads bowed in prayer, except for the baby on the near right side, who is doing was babies do best - playing in his food. The food on each plate is very detailed, as if you could join in their meal. This amazing scene is carved from one piece of wood, which makes the detail even more amazing. Please contact us at Nairi Gallery Sales to discuss a private commission or to ask questions. |
