Warehouse Warriors Main Page * The Woodworkers Auction Warriors * The Project

Woodworkers Auction became the blue team. This is a view of the set looking through the red teams section to the blue team's side.

Here's the blue teams stage where they expect to sit as they watch the judges name them the winners. Note the cameras are ready on the right.

Neither team knows until they arrive on the set early in the morning what their building project will be. Once Ed DelGrande had told them their project was a bed, they had 8 hours to design and build it. The first step was to decide on a design, followed by collecting the tools and supplies, and ending with the actual construction.

That's Kurt, Harry and Dave making nice with the host Ed DelGrande before the construction of their project. Is Kurt passing him a hundred dollar bill? Guess he doesn't know Ed has nothing to do with the judging.

Even the red team tried to butter up Ed. But, they waited until they had actually built the bed. Ah, boys, the judges are the ones you should be smoozing.

Ed DelGrande, the host is perfectly suited for this duty, with 16 years as a TV host under his belt. He qualifies as a "triple master" plumber and self-employed contractor who owns E. A. DelGrande & Son Plumbing. But, his most interesting bio is the one he developed as a stand up comedian from 1981 to 1991. Working with the likes of Dennis Leary, Jeanine Garafalo, Bobcat Goldwaith, Dana Gould, and Sam Kinnison he now prepared to take on Dave Eller, Ray Smith and company.

Can you believe it ..... the blue team from Woodworkers Auction actually got a bed built. It looks pretty nice, guys, what are you hiding?

And the red team finished too. And they even have a tree growing out of the headboard. Going after the originality points guys?

The judges for these projects are drawn in the following manner: 2 contractors or representatives from trade organizations or sponsoring companies and 1 on-air expert from DIY network or other "celebrity" judge. But the most impressive part of this show is that the projects are all donated to charities (like Habitat for Humanity) after completion.

Ed DelGrande seems happy with the bed our Woodworkers Auction team built. Don't we wish he was a judge!

Wait a minute red team, your bed is done, you can't stand around and wait for the judges. Go sit down!

So how do you win this competition? Each project is rated from 1 - 10 with 10 being the highest and the maximum. The scoring is weighted this way - up to 20 points for Design (quality of construction and design); up to 30 points for Execution (efficiency, techniques and teamwork); up to 50 points for Creativity (aesthetics, originality, imangination and use of supplies). Now we know why the red team put that tree on their headboard.

Wanna know who won? Well, you've got to watch the show to find out. Go to DIY Net to find out how to sign up for the channel if you don't already have it. They sponsor some great programs! Our team had a great time and we thank DIY Net for the opportunity. Norm's got nothing on us!
