Green Emerald Ficus (ficus microcarpa)

Also known as Green Island Ficus. Has oval to roundish dark green shiny leaves. Easily forms rosetts at the end of its branches if kept trimmed. Branches and fruits well and develops aerial roots when kept humid. Different from other Ficus Varieties in that the leaves are much thicker. Does well in lower, medium or high lighting conditions. Ligustrum Cascade-23"x11"x16" (ligustrum licidum)

Native to China and Eastern Asia and is now grown ornamentally in the United States. The berry of the Ligustrum has been used as a "yin" tonic in traditional Chinese medicine for a wide range of conditions, including premature aging, ringing in the ears, and chronic toxicity. Japanese Black Pine-21"x14"x22" (pinus thunbergii-'mikawa')

Stiff dark green needles (3-5 inches long) occur in pairs. Large, grayish-white terminal buds help distinguish it from most other pines. Camellia-19"x15"x30" (camellia japonica 'pink icicle')

Early spring bloomer, they generally open in April. The blooms are large (up to 41/2") and double, and they have a lovely shell pink color. Japanese Red Maple (acer palmatum 'red feather')

This Japanese Red Maple has finely dissected palmette shaped leaves (deeply cut like the palm of a hand). Unlike many other red leaf varieties, the deeply saturated purple-red leaves of this Japanese Maple will not "bronze" or "green out" during the summer. This broad, sweeping, conical-shaped evergreen has graceful, flattened, fern-like branchlets which gently droop at branch tips. AKA Silver Cypress because the foliage has silver-white branch tips. Flowering Crabapple (malus sargenti)

Flowering Crabapples are one of the best flowering trees for bonsai. They produce beautiful 1/2" pink and red fragrant flowers covering the entire tree in early spring before the foliage appears. The foliage is small and lobed. Little green pomes (apples) appear in summer, derived from the enlargement of the entire flower receptacle which becomes fleshy. The fruit ripens to all different colors in the fall when the foliage begins to turn to shades of yellow, orange and red. Winter brings a nice twiggy skeletal outline punctuated by the fruit which persists throughout the winter. They are easy to grow and quite pest and disease resistant. Decideous. The Full Moon Maple is a very slow growing ornamental Maple with deeply cut light green leaves. The main ornamental charachteristic is red, yellow and orange fall color. The purplish-red flowers are followed by reddish winged fruit. Few japanese Maples surpass its autumn brilliance. Provide minimal exposure to direct sun. Decideous. Also known as the Chinese Juniper. This needled evergreen is tolerant of a wide varieties of soils and is dioecious which means that there are separate male and female plants. Shimpaku is a naturally irregular vase shaped Juniper which we have trained into an upright mounded shape. Japanese Kingsville Boxwood - 16"x12"x20" (buxus microphylla 'compacta')

Native to Japan the Kingsville Boxwood has the smallest leaf of all Boxwoods which is why it is often used for bonsai. The leaves are light green with excellent branching. Holly (ilex 'pinnacle')

Evergreen pyramidal form of woody shrub native to the northern hemisphere. Prized for their showy berries which are produced only by female plants. If you have a female without a male, you will not have berries. Responds very well to pruning and training. Our male has lustrous dark green foliage. The Dissectums are the most highly sought after of the Japanese Maples. Their leaves are so deeply cut that they have a lacey or feathery quality. Has beautifully gnarled and cascading branches. Fig species which is native to South and South-East Asia. This Evergreen tree is particularly good for bonsai training as they produce sturdy trunks, a nicely branching shape and shiny leaves.
