Nairi
had an American friend who knew about Doc and Dee McNeely's Two
Paw Studio. Doc and Dee were our Featured
Woodworkers a few months ago. In their studio they conduct clases
in wood carving using high speed carvers like the Powercrafter. Nairi's friend asked if they might be interested in having Nairi teach a few classes at their studio. Although Doc and Dee wondered about the language barrier, they decided to give it a try. By the third day, Nairi began conducting a class using a little English and a lot of sign language. The class was dynamic and a demand for Nairi's tutoring developed. You can contact Two Paw Studio to attend a class. While living and working at the studio Nairi has continued to work on new projects. To the left is the wine server he is currently crafting. It is the first of it's kind that he has tried. The bottle of wine can be laid in the hollow center of the server and a spigot allows for servings of a very special vintage for a very special occasion. | Since
his arrival in the USA, Nairi has participated in various woodcraft shows
around the country. One of them was the Smoky Hollow Chapter Show La Crescenta
Park in Glendale, California. The vase to the right took First Place and Best of Show. It is formed from one piece of boxwood. At the same show his sculpture of 'Grandma Grinding Wheat' also took second place. Another piece featuring a single stem rose on a small jewelry box took Peoples Choice. One might say that Nairi swept the show. It is understandable when we contemplate the special and unique qualities of his body of work. |

Nairi is always expanding and
refining his craft. The marble statue to the left is an example of his
work in another medium. |
