Ansel Adams,
well known for his photography of the environment (particularly the National
Parks) was born in San Francisco at 114 Maple Street on February 20, 1902. He
was the only child of Olive and Charles Adams. His dedication to photography
of our western territories began with a boyhood trip to Yellowstone National
Park. During his career, he won three Guggenheim grants to photograph
the National Parks. On April 22, 1984, the world
lost this phenomenal chronicler of our environment to heart failure aggravated
by cancer.
